Sinossi:
Alter parla di una giovane persona che realizza come esprimono loro stessi. Nel loro mondo, la loro madre è una voce onnipresente nella loro testa che stabilisce aspettative che devono essere seguite. Quando un incidente che provoca ansia produce una visione di chi potrebbero essere, non sono sicuri se possono mostrare la verità alla loro madre o se devono riordinare i loro pensieri e non lasciare che le imperfezioni siano viste.
Parole del regista: “Questo film è molto personale per me, ho scritto l’idea nel 2019 e mi è rimasta in mente fino a quando ho avuto l’opportunità di girarlo su 35mm. Durante la creazione, ho lottato con la mia identità di genere e ho usato questo personaggio come surrogato dei miei sentimenti. Mentre esploravo il genere nel mio lavoro, sono riuscito a giungere a conclusioni su me stesso che ora sono pronto a condividere. Questo film è il mio coming out, sto usando il mio nome preferito per la prima volta nei titoli di coda di questo film e non potrei essere più eccitato.”

Synopsis:
Alter is about a young person realizing how they express themselves. In their world, their mother is an omnipresent voice in their head that sets expectations that must be followed. When an anxiety-provoking incident produces a vision of who they could be, they are not sure whether they can show the truth to their mother or whether they should rearrange their thoughts and not let the imperfections be seen.
Words from the director: “This film is very personal for me, I wrote the idea in 2019 and it remained in my mind until I had the opportunity to shoot it on 35mm. While creating it, I struggled with my gender identity and used this character as a surrogate for my feelings. As I’ve explored gender in my work, I’ve been able to come to conclusions about myself that I’m now ready to share. This movie is my coming out, I’m using my favorite name for the first time in the credits of this movie and I couldn’t be more excited.”
