Sinossi:
“València T’estime” è il primo documentario che racconta la storia LGTBI della città dagli anni ’70 ai primi anni 2000. Un momento cruciale in cui l’esplosione sociale, il desiderio di libertà e l’esplorazione della sessualità segnarono l’inizio della lotta egualitaria per i propri diritti. Il film conta più di una dozzina di testimonianze che hanno segnato un prima e un dopo nella lotta valenciana dove per la prima volta attivisti, personaggi storici, trasformatori, uomini d’affari e storici si uniscono per formare una storia unica e ancora sconosciuta al mondo. Oltre a innumerevoli materiali audiovisivi inediti che ci trasporteranno in una Valencia che si è rivelata aperta e plurale. Le prime manifestazioni, le aggressioni lgtbifobiche, la Brigada 26, il Moviment d’Alliberament Gai del Pais Valencià, gli esordi della Lambda, i locali notturni, il cabaret, la lotta trans, l’AIDS – HIV, Ploma 2, l’ultima testimonianza di Rampova, il primo gay libreria della città o il primo collettivo lesbico della Comunità Valenciana. Questi sono alcuni degli argomenti che vengono narrati per raccontare una lotta universale: poter essere liberi e amare chi si vuole senza paura. Il film è stato selezionato per tre Festival e ha vinto un premio: VALÈNCIA INDIE FILM FESTIVAL (2023).

Il regista di romanzi Carlos Giménez inizia la sua carriera cinematografica con cortometraggi di carattere emotivo e LGBT dal 2017. Ma è nel 2020 con il suo microdocumentario Liz Dust: arte, orgoglio e dragqueer, che vince il premio per i Diritti Sociali del Ministero della Spagna. Nel 2023 lancia il suo primo lungometraggio “València t’estime”, un documentario pionieristico che è il primo ad essere realizzato nella storia LGTB di València.

Synopsis:
“València T’estime” is the first documentary that tells the LGTBI history of the city from the 70s to the early 2000s. A crucial moment in which the social explosion, the desire for freedom and the exploration of sexuality marked the beginning of the egalitarian fight for one’s rights. The film has more than a dozen testimonies that marked a before and after in the Valencian struggle where for the first time activists, historical figures, transformers, businessmen and historians come together to form a unique story still unknown to the world . As well as countless unpublished audiovisual materials that will transport us to a Valencia that has proven to be open and plural. The first demonstrations, the lgtbiphobic attacks, the Brigada 26, the Moviment d’Alliberament Gai del Pais Valencià, the beginnings of the Lambda, the nightclubs, the cabaret, the trans struggle, AIDS – HIV, Ploma 2, the latest testimony of Rampova, the first gay bookshop in the city or the first lesbian collective in the Valencian Community. These are some of the topics that are narrated to tell a universal struggle: being able to be free and love whoever you want without fear. The film was selected for three Festivals and won an award: VALÈNCIA INDIE FILM FESTIVAL (2023).
Biofilmography:
Novel director Carlos Giménez began his film career with emotional and LGBT short films in 2017. But it was in 2020 with his microdocumentary Liz Dust: art, pride and dragqueer that he won the Social Rights Award from the Ministry of Spain . In 2023 he launches his first feature film “València t’estime”, a pioneering documentary which is the first to be made in the LGTB history of València.
