SINOSSI

EN: Lorea (25) opens the family album sitting on the sofa next to her mother Begoña (60). The album begins with photos of her grandmother Adela’s youth. In the photos Lorea observes her grandmother, who grows from a child to an adult in the village. Around her there are always children or other women taking care of some children. Lorea knows that her grandmother’s decision to become a mother was, in a way, imposed on her.
In the end, Adela becomes a mother, and in the family album photographs of Begoña begin to appear. In all of them, Adela stands next to her. Then we see the rest of Begoña’s brothers and sisters, ten in total. Lorea reflects on it and talks to her mother, “How
was Adela able to raise a family of ten children, a husband and a house? All this without complaining and without
considering any other way of life”.
Begoña grows up and the conventions her parents taught her as a child begin to crumble. The family moves to Bilbao, which changes her way of thinking. In Bilbao she grows up and begins to consider motherhood as a choice and not as an imposition. Begoña doubts whether to be a mother (or not). But in spite of everything, she finally becomes a mother and therefore, Adela becomes a grandmother.
Lorea’s photographs begin to appear in the album. Seeing herself as a child, Lorea remembers how many times adults asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up. She remembers perfectly: ballerina, carpenter and amatxu. But why amatxu? It was clear to her.

ITA: Lorea (25 anni) apre l’album di famiglia seduta sul divano accanto a sua madre Begoña (60 anni). L’album comincia con delle foto della giovinezza della nonna Adela. Nelle immagini, Lorea osserva sua nonna crescere: da bambina ad adulta nel villaggio. Intorno a lei ci sono sempre bambini o altre donne che si prendono cura dei bambini. Lorea sa che la decisione della nonna di diventare madre, in un certo senso, le è stata imposta.

Alla fine, Adela diventa madre, e nell’album di famiglia cominciano ad apparire le fotografie di Begoña. In tutte, Adela è accanto a lei. Poi vediamo anche il resto dei fratelli e sorelle di Begoña, dieci in totale. Lorea ci riflette sopra e parla con sua madre:
“Come ha fatto Adela a crescere dieci figli, un marito e una casa? Tutto questo senza lamentarsi e senza considerare nessun’altra possibilità di vita.”

Begoña cresce, e le convenzioni che i suoi genitori le hanno trasmesso da bambina cominciano a sgretolarsi. La famiglia si trasferisce a Bilbao, e questo cambia il suo modo di pensare. A Bilbao cresce e inizia a considerare la maternità come una scelta, e non come un’imposizione. Begoña comincia a dubitare se diventare madre (o no). Ma nonostante tutto, alla fine diventa madre, e quindi Adela diventa nonna.

Le fotografie di Lorea iniziano ad apparire nell’album. Vedendosi da bambina, Lorea ricorda quante volte gli adulti le chiedevano cosa volesse fare da grande. Lo ricorda perfettamente: ballerina, falegname e amatxu (mamma, in basco).
Ma perché amatxu? Le era chiarissimo.

EN: Lorea Lyons – Born in Bilbao in 1996, she graduated in Audiovisual Communication in 2018. Since then, she has mainly worked in cultural management and production. In 2020–2021, she worked in the Creative and Cultural Industries Department of the Bilbao City Council. In 2022, she worked in the communication and production departments of the Getxophoto festival. She is currently working at the communication and advertising agency Sormen Komunikazioa as a content creator.

She has also participated in short films such as La Petite Con (2017), winner of the Zinebi New Talents and Bitabe awards and selected for the official sections of Zinegoak and Huhezinema film festivals; and Instrucciones para caminar por la ciudad (2021), part of an animated short coordinated by Begoña Vicario.

 

Ane Inés Landeta – Born in Bilbao in 1996, she graduated in Fine Arts in 2018. From 2019 to 2021, she worked in the audiovisual department of the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum. Since 2021, she has been working in the Culture Department of the Bilbao City Council in production and as a cultural programmer, including at FANT – Fantastic Film Festival.

In addition to working in production and photography—such as documenting the Zinegoak film festival in Bilbao—she has also participated as an animator in several short films with the HauAzkena Animation Group, including Miraila.

 

ES: Lorea Lyons – Nacida en Bilbao en 1996, se graduó en Comunicación Audiovisual en 2018. Desde entonces ha trabajado principalmente en la gestión y producción cultural. En los años 2020-2021 trabajó en el departamento de Industrias Creativas y Culturales del Ayuntamiento de Bilbao. En 2022 trabajó en los departamentos de comunicación y producción del festival Getxophoto. En la actualidad trabaja en la agen c ia de co muni cac ión y pubIic i dad So rmen Komunikazioa como creadora de contenidos.
También ha participado en cortometrajes como la Petite Con (201 7), ganador de los premios Zinebi New Talents y Bitabe y seleccionado en las secciones oficiales de los festivales Zinegoak y Huhezinema; e Instrucciones para caminar por la ciudad (202 1), participante del cortometraje de animación coordinado por Begoña Vicario.
Ane Inés Landeta – Nacida en Bilbao en 1996, se graduó en Bellas Artes en 2018. De 2019 a 2021 trabajó en el departamento de audiovisuales del Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao. A partir de 2021 trabaja en el Área de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Bilbao en la producción y como programadora cultural, entre otros en el Fant, Festival de Cine Fantástico.
Además de realizar labores de producción y fotografía, como el registro del festival de cine Zinegoak de Bilbao, ha participado como animadora en la realización de varios cortometrajes con el Grupo de Animación HauAzkena, entre ellos, Miraila.
